Editorial program
The editorial program of Saastal defines the pillars of our scientific management, ensuring regularity, technical quality, and recognition of the academic work carried out by our publishing house.
Publication frequency and model
Saastal follows a semiannual publication frequency (January–June and July–December). The journal adopts a continuous publication model, whereby articles are published in the current volume immediately after completing the technical and editorial process, in order to optimize scientific communication timelines.
Scope and types of contributions
The journal covers the Life Sciences, with a focus on their intersection with Applied and Environmental Sciences. We accept original research articles, review articles, and short communications.
Double-Blind Peer Review process
Scientific excellence is ensured through a rigorous double-blind peer review process, conducted by external experts.
Editorial process stages
Preliminary evaluation: the editorial team verifies formatting compliance, originality (plagiarism screening), and thematic relevance. Estimated time: 1 week.
Reviewer assignment: manuscripts are sent to two external reviewers not affiliated with the authors’ institution. Estimated time: 3 to 5 weeks.
Review criteria and decisions: reviewers assess scientific rigor, clarity, and relevance. Possible decisions include: accepted with minor revisions, accepted with major revisions, or rejected.
Author revisions: authors are given time to incorporate the suggested improvements. Estimated time: 1 to 2 weeks.
Final decision: based on reviewers’ reports. In cases of disagreement, a third reviewer is consulted. The Editor-in-Chief issues the final decision. Estimated time: 1 week.
Special issues and volumes
Saastal publishes Special Issues focused on emerging or high-impact topics within its scope.
Rigor: Special Issues are subject to the same double-blind peer review process as regular issues.
Proposals: the editorial team may invite guest academic editors of recognized expertise to coordinate these volumes, under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief.
Recognition of reviewers
At Saastal, reviewers are recognized as a cornerstone of scientific quality. Accordingly, the journal offers:
Official certificate: formal acknowledgment of their contribution to academic development.
Public acknowledgment: annual inclusion in the list of reviewers (with prior consent).
Editorial incentives: preferential discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for future submissions as corresponding authors, granted upon the completion of timely and high-quality peer reviews.
