APC

Saastal is an open access journal and does not receive direct government funding. In order to ensure its operational sustainability, maintain high editorial standards, and provide immediate and free access to its contents, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC).

APC amount

The APC is USD 300 (three hundred United States dollars) per article accepted for publication.

Timing of payment

Manuscript submission and the peer review process are completely free of charge. The APC is requested only after the manuscript has been formally accepted, once the double-blind peer review process has been successfully completed. Payment of the APC does not influence the editorial decision and does not guarantee acceptance.

Use of APC funds

APC revenues are fully reinvested in the production and sustainability of the journal. These funds support the maintenance of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and digital preservation systems, editorial processes such as copyediting, proofreading, and professional layout, XML-JATS tagging to enhance interoperability and visibility, assignment and registration of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI), long-term digital preservation through LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, as well as dissemination and indexing in academic repositories and networks.

Waiver and discount policy

In line with its commitment to the democratization of knowledge, Saastal offers a waiver and discount policy. Full or partial waivers may be granted to authors affiliated with institutions in low-income countries or to those who demonstrate limited access to research funding. Active reviewers of the journal may also receive preferential discounts on APCs for their own submissions. Requests for waivers or discounts must be submitted at the time of initial manuscript submission and do not affect the editorial evaluation or final publication decision.
